“Wow, you’re so tall” has become a very normal response to being introduced to me. I say, “Hi, I’m Amelia,” and they say, “Wow, you’re so tall!” One day, I’m going to say, “Wow, I’m so tall!” and they’ll be stumped. I don’t really mind. I am tall. I’m not so tall. I’m 178cm, or about 5″9. Average men are at least my height, and I’ve got tall girls around me that are the same, if not a little taller. We hang out in a gang, looming over families like we’re going to eat their small children if they don’t throw treats at us. No, we don’t. One of us is a banker, one is a Pilates instructor, and I’m a writer. It’s like we’re normal people. And totally not cannibals that eat children.
Which brings me to Love Long Clothing (I bet they didn’t see cannibalism being incorporated so smoothly into my product review). I first blogged about them two years ago, when I got a gorgeous long skirt from them. Not to-my-ankles long (you know, where little chicken ankles stick out the bottom?). Long-long. To-the-floor long. On me! Join me as I burst into song, tall girls!
Since then, Love Long CLothing has rebranded, revamped their gorgeous website, and stocked up on loads of new items, styles and textiles. It’s my happy place. This is what owner, Kristi Kyle, has to say:
To celebrate our beloved brand turning three last year, we treated ourselves to a fresh new look. Not only do we have a beautiful new logo, but we have a new name! Love Long Clothing represents our journey. We are proud to have walked through the high and the low seasons of business with grace, integrity and respect for nearly four years. We have the most incredible customers and we wouldn’t be able to grow as have without their constant support and encouragement.
Each new product we offer is made with purpose. We wanted to spoil our customers with not only one, but TWO new dress designs for summer. We officially launched our Button-Down Shirt and Open-Back Shift Dresses this week – eek! Gone are the days where dresses are uncomfortably short and impractical if you are above average height. Instead, they can be breath-taking, easy to wear and flattering. If customers loved our classic sleeveless Midi and Maxi dresses from last summer, they can also find brilliant new colour choices online.
So, this Amazonian mama-blogger ordered the dress she’s been perving for a while (Pic pending, don’t hold your breaths).
I chose it because I get really hot, pretty much regardless of the weather (for more symptoms of thyroid disease that are more exciting than sweating through everything, check here). It’s just the right length (on my knee, which is harder to find than a bread roll at a Banting support group), sleeveless (but a wide enough strap to hide bra straps), thin enough to be cool and breathable (but not see-through), and gloriously comfortable. I love that I can wear it with strappy flats to fetch madam from school, or with heels for date night. And anyone that says that tall girls shouldn’t wear heels is probably a tall girl. And wrong.
But, this is just scratching the surface of what Love Long Clothing has to offer. Their current (but ever-growing) product range includes:
- Skinny jeans (whaaat?!)
- Palazzo pants
- Eternity dresses
- T-shirts (long- and short-sleeved)
- Formal straight-legged trousers (great for work)
- Linen pants
- Maxi skirts
- Long dresses (with or without sleeves)
- Shift dresses
- Midi-length dresses (with or without sleeves)
- Shirt dresses
- Pajamas
I also love that this isn’t ONLY clothing for tall girls. Even average-height ladies love shopping online with Love Long Clothing because their quality is great, their variety wide, and their attitudes stellar (they’re not paying me to say this, by the way. This is an unsolicited product review). I guess shortening a pair of palazzos pales in importance when all of these other factors combine. I wouldn’t know. The only time I’ve ever had to shorten something was my school skirt. And that had everything to do with the image of a self-conscious 15-year old. That skirt was never going to be short enough.
I digress.
The full range of items is available to purchase online, directly from their website. They also have a Facebook page and Instagram account, where pics of happy customers inspire extra confidence. In the meantime, here are some of their gorgeous items:
So eat your hearts out shorties! 🙂 (like myself)
There are many advantages to being petite. I used to loooong for it. But, I’m happy with my height now. You’re gorgeous just the way you are, Barbie!!
Thank you so much Amelia! Your support has been a total blessing to our business, and I really appreciate all that you do, including this kind and thoughtful review x
I wouldn’t say it if I didn’t mean it! <3
